How Know North Shore Started…
Having lived on Vancouver’s North Shore for over 10 years, I’ve always loved seeing all of the different animals around the shoreline. When I realized how difficult it was to find information about local marine wildlife, even with my background in Biology, I decided to take this project into my own hands. I started Know North Shore because I know that education is the most important tool in understanding our oceans and appreciating the animals that we share them with.
This project was created in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 in mind. The focus of Goal 14 is to “conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development”. This framework was developed in 2015 as 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. For more information, check out https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdg14.
