North American River Otters can be found along the West Vancouver shorelines and streams scurrying about the rocks. These semi-aquatic animals can grow up to 30 lbs and usually have dark brown fur with a lighter belly. In the past, River Otters had been hunted for their fur pelts. River Otters feed on fish, invertebrates and other small creatures. River Otters need to watch out, as they have lots of known predators both on land and in the water – such as coyotes, cougars, and orcas!
